The Algarve is one of Europe's most beautiful coastlines — characterised by dramatic golden sandstone cliffs, hidden grottos, long sandy beaches and charming fishing villages. Albufeira and Lagos are popular resort bases, while the western tip at Sagres is wild and unspoilt.

Lisbon is one of Europe's most captivating capital cities — built on seven hills above the Tagus estuary, with historic trams, Moorish castles, incredible seafood and a fado music tradition. It's compact, walkable and increasingly popular for long weekends.

Madeira is the "Island of Eternal Spring" — a lush volcanic island in the Atlantic with year-round mild temperatures, dramatic mountain scenery and a unique levada (irrigation channel) walking network. It's also famous for its wine, Cristiano Ronaldo and spectacular New Year fireworks.

Porto Santo is Madeira's smaller sister island — famous for its extraordinary 9km golden sand beach (rare in the Atlantic) and the therapeutic properties attributed to its sand and sea. It's quiet, uncrowded and genuinely special.

The Azores are a revelation — nine volcanic islands in the middle of the Atlantic, with crater lakes, hot springs, whale watching, dramatic coastlines and some of the freshest air in the world. São Miguel is the most accessible with direct UK flights.
